Dust Cyclone (Dust separation cyclone) is a device used to separate dust or solid particles from air or gas. By using the principle of centrifugal force that occurs when air or gas containing dust particles moves through the machine at high speed.
### Working principle of Dust Cyclone
1. **Air Flow**: Air or gas containing dust is fed into the Dust Cyclone in the direction tangential to the inside wall of the machine. causing a rotating movement (vortex)
2. **Centrifugal force**: The heavier dust particles are thrown against the inner wall of the machine due to centrifugal force. and falls to the bottom of the machine
3. **Dust separation**: Separated dust is stored in the bottom of the machine (hopper), while cleaned air or gas moves out of the top of the machine.
### Main components of Dust Cyclone
- **Body**: The part where air or gas flows through.
- **Inlet**: The point where air or gas mixed with dust enters the machine.
- **Outlet**: The point where clean air or gas exits the machine.
- **Dust Hopper**: The part that stores dust that is separated.
### Benefits of Dust Cyclone
- **High efficiency**: Able to separate large and medium sized dust well.
- **Easy maintenance**: No moving parts. Reducing wear and tear
- **Energy saving**: Uses less energy compared to other dust filter systems.
### Limitations
- **Effective against small dust**: Dust Cyclone is less effective when separating very small dust (such as micron-sized dust).
- **Loss of pressure**: There may be a loss of pressure in the system.
Dust Cyclone is commonly used in industries such as food production plants, wood processing plants, and chemical industries. To help reduce pollution and improve air quality in the workplace
### Characteristics of Dust Cyclone
- **General shape**: Dust Cyclone usually has a tall cylindrical shape. (cylindrical) with a conical shape at the bottom
- **Inlet**: It is the entrance channel for air or gas contaminated with dust. Usually located on the side of the machine.
- **Outlet**: It is a pipe located at the top of the machine. For clean air or gas
- **Dust Hopper**: The bottom part of the machine. It looks like a cone or cylinder. For collecting separated dust
