How are odors and smoke removed?
Odors and smoke are forms of air pollution that significantly affect daily life, for example smoke from cooking, , vehicle exhaust or industrial work. Smoke also brings unpleasant odors. Working in a confined area where smoke cannot be vented out can create serious difficulties. Odors and smoke originate from combustion or changes in chemical composition caused by heat.
Smoke can be classified into 2 types:
1. Black smoke
Black smoke consists of small carbon particles from incomplete combustion in diesel engines and machinery, including vehicles and factories. Inhalation affects the respiratory system, particularly the lungs, and can ultimately involve carcinogenic substances.
2. White smoke
White smoke comes from incomplete combustion in engines and machinery and is released through exhaust systems. When these substances are exposed to sunlight, chemical reactions can produce harmful ozone. Inhaling such smoke is dangerous. These are respiratory pollutants, in addition to welding fumes, cooking smoke, gas fumes, tobacco smoke and others.
Therefore, removing smoke and odors is important for small systems as well as large industrial systems. Fan manufacturers have developed various products for extracting smoke and odors, including smoke exhaust fans, wall-mounted smoke and odor fans, duct fans for confined spaces and smoke extraction blowers.
Smoke extraction blowers commonly used in homes, restaurants and factories are centrifugal or squirrel-cage blowers ( Sirocco blower) used with air ducts to remove odors and smoke from the target area. Internally, a motor drives the impeller directly or through belts, causing it to draw in and move air toward the destination.
The quantity of smoke and odor removed depends on Application the application, duct design, duct length calculations, motor wattage and fan type Smoke extraction blowers “ Industrial Blower “ as the main factors.
Installation design also varies according to the fluids or contaminants carried in the air. A correct choice improves extraction and air delivery. For smoke and odor without other airborne contaminants, choose a squirrel-cage blower. For smoke containing heavy dust, choose a backward-bladed blower ( Backward blower) for example.
