Read NAME PLATE to choose equipment correctly

Products we buy have labels showing price, brand and type for us to read before deciding. For example, someone concerned about gaining weight may read a food or snack packet to see its calorie content and whether eating too much will make them gain weight.  
In industry, almost every piece of equipment has an identifier called  " Name Plate ( nameplate) "  It is a metal plate or good-quality plastic sticker, ranging from small to large according to the equipment's size.   Its design and colors vary with its application. Nameplates nameplate are commonly fitted to electrical cabinets, switch cabinets, machines and certain electrical equipment.  
 

Today we show how to read  Name Plate ( nameplate) in a simple way that you can apply, using  Name Plate ( nameplate) of   agricultural water pumps,   as a case-study example. Let us see how straightforward it is to read.

The image shows Name Plate ( nameplate) of   water pump VS 100  The numbered positions have the following meanings:
1. The water pump brand; the brand shown is   water pump brand   

2. indicates quality. In this example, it means a high-efficiency water pump meeting Italian standards.

3. This field shows the pump model; in the image, the model is  VS 100

4. In this row, the fields from left to right indicate

  • The left field shows   flow rate Q in liters per minute.
  • The right field shows the number Serie Number of the equipment.

5.  In this row, the fields from left to right indicate the height to which water can be delivered,   in meters, as shown.

  • The left field  H(m) shows the total head.  
  • The middle field  Hmin(m) shows the minimum head.  
  • The right field  Hmax(m) shows the maximum head.  

6.  In this row, the fields from left to right indicate

  • The left field  hp shows pump power or horsepower.
  • The middle and right fields  kW show electrical power.

7.  In this row, the fields from left to right indicate

  • The first field V shows voltage in volts.
  • The second field uF shows the capacitance or capacitor value.
  • The third field CI  shows the winding standard.
  • The fourth field  IP shows the water and dust protection rating (   Read: the numerical rating of the IP( water and dust protection standard) and what it indicates  )

8.  In this row, the fields from left to right indicate

The first field Electro Pump indicates that this is an electrically operated water pump.

The second field Continuous Duty indicates that the pump can operate continuously.

The symbol in the third field CE indicates the European manufacturing standard.

The fourth field contains the number indicating noise while the pump runs.

These simple steps can help you decide which water pump to buy, but they are only preliminary guidance.   Details vary by pump type and manufacturer, so consult the user manual for the specific pump.
