What causes this, and can initial troubleshooting help? Let us look.

1. The pump motor is too small to draw and deliver water at the required pressure and flow.
Remedy:   Replace the pump with one of the appropriate size for the household's requirements.

2. The water level is below the end of the suction pipe, because there is insufficient water or the installation was planned incorrectly.
Remedy:   Correct this by positioning the suction pipe end sufficiently deep below the water surface in the storage tank.

3. There is insufficient water in the pressure tank.
Remedy:   Open the pump's priming-water valve, refill with water until it overflows, and close the valve back to its original position before restarting.

4. The water pipe system is blocked.
Remedy:   Clean the pipework by dismantling and cleaning it. If the blockage cannot be located or accessed, the water piping may need to be replaced.
