Duct Design has 3. The main methods commonly used in air conditioning and ventilation systems include:

1. Equal Friction Method (Equal Friction Method)
 • Principle: Maintain the same value of frictional resistance (Static Pressure Loss per unit length) throughout the system, such as 0.1 inches of water / 100 feet.
 • Advantages:
 • Easy, fast, suitable for general work.
 • Most commonly used in buildings.
 • Disadvantages:
 • Not suitable for systems that have many branches or branches that are of unequal length.
 • Air must be balanced later.

2. Static Regain Method (method for compensating static pressure)
 • Principle: Designed so that the wind speed decreases towards the destination zone. Make the pressure constant or similar at every point.
 • Advantages:
 • Good air distribution.
 • Reduce sound and unbalance problems.
 • Disadvantages:
 • Complex, takes a lot of computation time.
 • Need knowledge and software to help.

3. Velocity Reduction Method
 • Principle: Start with a high air velocity near the AHU and gradually reduce the air velocity along the pipe at or near the destination.
 • Advantages:
 • Easy to understand.
 • Works well with systems that need to reduce noise.
 • Disadvantages:
 • Does not save space.
 • Use a large pipe at the end. which wastes material

Comparison summary:
Method suitable for the job, advantages and disadvantages
Equal Friction, general buildings, easy, fast, must be balanced.
Static Regain large building, conference center, wind balance, complex
Velocity Reduction, work that emphasizes low sound, easy to understand, very large pipes
